Is there anything more radiant than an expectant mother? Pregnancy is such a special time and it’s some important to document this step in your parenthood journey. I feel like it’s so easy to focus on newborn photography (my first love) but it is equally important to celebrate you, Mama! Your little one will only grow within you for a few short months and you will want to look back on that time in your life as your baby grows.
Women are INCREDIBLE. The ability to create and carry life as you grow a tiny human is an achievement worth celebrating. Pamper yourself, get all dolled up and put on the pretty gown while we celebrate YOU and the life you carry. When people say pregnant women are glowing, it’s not simply an expression. There’s a light about a woman while she’s pregnant that cannot be dimmed - an inner joy that simply radiates outward and everyone takes notice.
I strive to capture that beauty in images that you will cherish long after your little one makes their debut earthside and I can promise when your child is old enough to understand they once resided in Mommy’s tummy - they will cherish the images as well.
I truly enjoy maternity sessions and documenting the connection between parents as they await their baby’s arrival. Dad’s pride and Mom’s glow is something to behold.
As wonderful as outdoor maternity sessions are (especially with a gorgeous location and perfect weather), my heart has always been called to the simple elegance of studio maternity sessions. There’s just something about a more intimate setting where only Mom’s bump and the beaming soon-to-be parents are the main focus. It’s one of my very favorite things to capture. I always incorporate both backdrops and backlit photos for studio sessions. Backlit is so simplistic but such a stunning way to capture the connection between a couple and their unborn child.
Not to mention the practical benefits of shooting in an air conditioned studio! Having a changing room and refrigerated beverages beats changing in a small tent in 80 degree heat and strong humidity any day! Mamas are so much more comfortable in the studio without having to hike or walk far to the best locations in the heat. I love outdoor sessions too, don’t get me wrong, but not having to work around the weather or only shoot at sunset is an added benefit to studio maternity sessions.
