Greenville, South Carolina Newborn Photographer | Huxley’s Newborn Session

Baby Huxley was the most delightfully sleepy model for his newborn session recently. I was so excited to meet him at just 8 days new and may have squealed in excitement (in my mind, of course) when I saw all that dark hair. His session was truly out of this world!

His sweet Mama gave me free rein creatively and let me choose whatever setups I thought would look best! I had so much fun styling his session and could not have asked for a more gorgeous baby. His little features and all that hair looked so amazing with every set. Despite a multitude of poses and setups in addition to outfit changes, he never made a peep and could not have slept better for his modeling debut!

I chose my favorite shade of soft green (sage) and a soft blue to accent his dark hair and lashes. I always start with froggy pose when baby arrives sleeping and he settled right into the pose. The hair, the lashes, and his tiny lips - I just die over the cuteness!

I strive to make newborn sessions the most relaxing experience possible - for both parents and baby. I style every session based on parents’ preferences and have everything ready to go so that all parents have to do is bring baby then sit back and relax while I work. My studio is tailored entirely to a newborn’s comfort and the warm environment has been known to make many parents fall asleep while I’m shooting.

Huxley’s mother, Omara, was happy to sit back and watch while Dad entertained big brother elsewhere until we were ready for sibling photos. I cannot tell you how much it means to me when parents entrust me with their most precious gifts and I know the images captured at Huxley’s newborn session are something they will cherish forever.

Big brother, Finnley, is so excited to have a little brother but was a little camera shy at first when it came time to pose with Huxley. It’s not unusual for toddlers to be shy in a new environment but with some patience and jokes to make them feel comfortable, they tend to warm up quickly.

Huxley did so amazing the first time that I asked his Mom if she’d bring him back to model a few brand new backdrop and setups that came in right after his session. I had a new astronaut set I simply couldn’t wait to use! She was really excited to bring him back because the experience was so enjoyable the first time and I was happy to have him. He was every bit as perfect the second time around.

Even though it hadn’t even been a week since I’d seen him, I could already see subtle changes and growth in him. That newborn stage passes so quickly which is why I believe it is so important to capture every detail those first few weeks of life. Your little one changes and grows so quickly!

His proofing gallery has such amazing variety! I am in love with every image and setup we did, as is his mother who has told me his newborn photos are everything she could have hoped for and more. Capturing these memories for families all over the Upstate of South Carolina (and beyond) is truly such a special gift and I will never take this job I love for granted. I still pinch myself daily that I get to cuddle babies for a living.
