Greenville, South Carolina Newborn Photographer | Owen’s Newborn Session
It’s always a privilege when a fellow photographer hires you to capture their newest addition. Owen’s sweet Mama reached out to me pretty early on in her pregnancy to reserve my services for when her son arrived; we’re in a couple of the same photography groups with photographers all over the world. She saw some of my work posted and fell in love (something that still shocks me daily when people recognize my work by name). That people see the work I pour my heart and soul into, and actually value what I offer their families will never stop being overwhelming. I am extremely blessed to do what I love.
Moons and stars are the theme in Owen’s nursery so it was a must that we incorporate that in his newborn session. I styled sets specifically to fit that theme because I knew they’d be perfect for his nursery. I chose others sets in complimentary colors to add variety to his (quite large) gallery. His mother, Lizzie, knew she’d want ALL the images before we even did the session.
At just 8 days new, Owen slept like a champ for his entire newborn session. He never cried and let me do so many adorable sets with him. He was so relaxed that he was putty in my hands and we got through all the poses easily.
I chose soft grays, blues, and taupe for wrapped setups because I knew they would compliment the rest of his gallery. I try to always envision the way images may be displayed in your home or printed in an album together and choose colors that are complimentary. We then tied the moon and stars into some prop setups as well with the matching bucket and my wooden moon bowl (one of my favorite props).
This star backdrop is one of my favorites! The foil effect on the stars creates such a beautiful bokeh effect in camera and I love my matching moon pillow.
Lizzie and Brian were so easy to work with and have two boys they clearly adore! This family of 4 was wonderful to have in the studio and I can’t wait to watch Owen continue to grow.
